Cool review of our demo posted on Brutalism.com:
“Excellent technique, solid riffs. Great blend of fantasy metal and black metal."
We’re featured in this month’s issue of Up Magazine. That’s the first time we’re in print media :). Translation of the article:
From all four corners of The Netherlands, a band has been formed that would make Ozzy Osbourne reach for his ear protection. From the Ashes is not only very loud, but the raw, DIY sound of their demo makes you feel like you are standing in a dark venue somewhere listening to an early Amon Amarth concert. The band was founded in 2009 by guitarist Peter Reedijk and in 2010 there was enough material to play their first gigs. After several line-up changes, where drummer Ronald was replaced by Sonny van Huet and synth player Joris left the band, From the Ashes finally found a stable formation in the Summer of 2011. Early 2012 the band went into the studio to record their first demo, which was released this May under the title “Destruction’s Dawn”. The demo is dark, heavy and deeply rooted in death and black metal. From the Ashes clearly is not for wimps. Is it time yet to start sacrificing goats and biting off bat heads?
